Returns & Exchanges

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you're not entirely satisfied, you can return the product to us, and we will either repair or replace it, or credit your account, subject to the below terms and conditions.

Standard Returns Policy

  1. 30 Day Hassle Free Exchanges & Returns 

If you are unhappy with your purchase, we will exchange goods if returned within 30 days of purchase on provision that the goods are still in their original condition along with original sealed packaging and must not have been used. This policy only applies to items purchased online at game4u.co.za

When does this policy not apply?

If the item is:

  • older than 30 days
  • opened, unsealed, used or missing any accessories
  • a digital product such as a digital  voucher, gaming code or other digital products
  • an open box, pre-owned or refurbished item
  • a product which has been personalised or made to your specifications such as a custom gaming PC.
  • An item purchased in a brick & mortar store.

Please note that an exchange of unwanted goods will attract both a delivery and returns delivery charge, commensurate with the charge for such services to GAME 4U, no greater than R150.00 per delivery to the customer and corresponding return.

The exchange of larger items such as Gaming chairs and Racing Stands will attract a higher cost and this will be calculated by the courier and sent to the customer.

The collection and delivery cost must be paid before the exchange is processed.

2. New Games

Except as otherwise provided in any legislation, all refunds and/or exchanges of software or games will be subject to the following restrictions:

1) No refunds or exchanges will be made in relation to software or games in respect of which have been opened and/or the seals have been broken or appear to have been tampered with.

2) No refunds or exchanges will be made in relation to software or games once opened due to your failure to check that you or the person you are acquiring the game for, has a system that meets the minimum specifications required and/or relevant age restriction.

3) No refunds or exchanges will be made in relations to software or games that have been damaged due to abuse, misuse or system malfunctions.

4) As games are protected by copyright law, defective games will be booked in for testing and if found to be faulty, will be exchanged for the same game.

5) Under no circumstances can we exchange or refund games that require online authentication or activation. Once opened, they are deemed to have been activated and authenticated.

3. Defective Products

We do our best to ensure that the products we deliver to you are of a high quality,  and in good working order and without defects.

A defect is a material imperfection in the manufacture of a product or any characteristic of a product, which makes the product less acceptable than one would reasonably be entitled to expect in the circumstances.

The following will NOT be regarded as defects and will not entitle you to a return under this section:

      • faults resulting from normal wear and tear;
      • damage arising from negligence, user abuse or incorrect usage of the product;
      • damage arising from electrical surges or sea air corrosion;
      • damage arising from a failure to adequately care for the product;
      • damage arising from unauthorized alterations to the product;
      • where the specifications of a product, although accurately described on the Website and generally fit for its intended purpose, do not suit you; and
      • in relation to Open Box Deals, used or refurbished products, signs of handling and/or repackaging.

Please note that it may not be possible for GAME 4U to determine whether goods have been damaged or what the cause of a failure or defect may be. This is of importance as it determines whether the goods may be repaired or replaced. Accordingly, we reserve the right to refer returned goods for technical assessment by the manufacturer or authorised service centre prior to repairing or replacing and endeavour to provide feedback within 15 working days of receipt of the returned goods and to act accordingly.

If your goods show a defect after the first month, but still within the manufacturer’s warranty period, the customer will be referred to warranty provider.

4. Supplier Warranty

A manufacturer warranty product is a product for which the relevant supplier or manufacturer chooses to manage defective returns themselves, directly with the customer, and not through GAME 4U. Some examples include Xbox, PlayStation and Connex.

If a manufacturer warranty product turns out to be defective or otherwise of poor quality, please contact the relevant supplier or manufacturer directly.

Please note that any supplier warranty is subject to whatever terms and conditions the supplier or manufacturer may impose. These are usually stated in a brochure or leaflet inside or on the product packaging. It is your responsibility to make yourself aware of any such terms and conditions.

It is also important to note that the remedy offered to you is at the supplier or manufacturer’s discretion what remedy it can offer you. GAME 4U is under no obligation to provide you with a credit, repair / replacement, as your remedy lies with the supplier or manufacturer.

 

5. Charges and Refunds

If you return a defective product to us, but you fail to return all of the accessories and parts that were sold with that product, we are entitled to (subject to applicable law)  refuse the return,  or only to replace the item that you did return; or to estimate the value of the missing accessories and parts and to credit or refund you in respect of the returned item only.

If you return a product that does not comply with this Policy, you may be liable to reimburse GAME 4U for the cost of collecting the product from you and the cost of having the product returned to you.

Please note that we only refund to the payment method that you originally used – i.e. payment by credit card will be refunded to the same credit card, payment by Instant EFT or pay in store will be refunded to your nominated bank account. Refunds may take up to 10 business days to process depending on the payment method.

GAME 4U aims to honour the above policies in line with the South African Consumer Protection Act.

How do i log a return?

To book a return, kindly visit your nearest GAME 4U store or send an email to support@game4u.co.za with your order number and reason for return. Our support team will then process your return accordingly subject to the terms above.

You may also log a return directly via our Returns Center

Can i return an online purchase in store?

Yes you may return online orders in store should they meet the criteria outline above.

How do i track my return status?

You will receive updates on the status of your return via email or you may track it via our returns center

Can i exchange an unwanted item?

You may return unwanted items should they meet the conditions outlined in section 1 of our returns policy above.

Are digital codes refundable?
Digital codes such as Xbox gift cards and other vouchers are one time use only and therefore non refundable.
